One of the most important and dangerous job all around the world is held by the police. They are responsible of saving lives and protecting the innocent on a daily basis. In fact we can think of them as our real-life and daily heroes. They risk their lives everyday and around the clock searching for and perusing to detain outlaws and other evil doers. When a criminal is caught, he is immediately transported to the nearest police department, in many cases this facility supervised by an antiquated and obsolete security system. Although some larger police departments have significantly improved their security preparations and equipment post-9/11, others simply don't have the funding to carry out such an expensive upgrade. A small not-so-wealthy police department nearly doubled its outdoor surveillance cameras and increased the amount of lighting in the facility, but when it attempted to attain a grant in order to put up a boundary barrier in the region of the police parking area and around the side of the property, the project was clearly too costly. They did have some security apparatus that was approximately about 20 years old. But unfortunately, it was already showing clear signs of wear and tear. Sadly, they have to do the best they can with what they have since the funds do have a tendency to get a little tight when it comes to government and police departments. Luckily, close to a year ago, the police department finally took delivery of the extra funding that it had patiently been waiting for, which enabled a rapid and major surveillance upgrade project. Their outdated security system operated off of a time-lapsed VCR device that had a digital multiplexer in it, and they had tons of VHS tapes all around the area. Some were empty; others were filled with material that was previously recorded. Unfortunately, nobody had the time to even start organizing these tapes due to their huge quantity and tediousness. It was obvious that Police stations, jails and prisons, which have always had some type of video surveillance analog system, became amongst the first customers of the new security surveillance products. However, after having to unsuccessfully deal with the analog system for multiple years they are now mainly concern about these new security technologies is if they will be easy to manage and browse or not. Upon investigating a bunch of various security systems for the upgrading, they finally resorted to a systems integrator Alarm 24, this provided them with exactly what they were looking for in terms of security and safety and many other aspects. They wanted something that they could put into the network and only required the hard drives to record the video they definitely did not want something that was PC-driven. The system that best addressed their security needs was the March Networks 4000 series DVR system. This security system was able to record visual footage from 25 cameras set up in the station's holding cells, booking facility, lobby and outside perimeter. It also contained four 30-inch monitors; this enabled the dispatchers to keep an eye on what was going on. And finally, a two-way audio recording capability. Doing away with the Extended Feedback Phenomenon This surveillance system was essentially created to protect the facility, as well as the policemen and suspects; however, the biggest advantage comes from settling phony claims arguments. Individuals depend on the police brutality rumors too much nowadays. They tend to try to sue police departments after every incident, claiming that they beat them or pepper sprayed them for no reason at all. And it quickly turns into a 'he said/she said' game, the cameras that they have now and the machines that record 24/7 enable them to reduce this finger pointing quarrel. It is evident that, analog systems are also capable of recording video and audio footage. However with an analog security system, it literally requires days upon days to conduct a proper examination since the police officers and other individuals are obligated to go through and analyze a large number of lengthy VHS tapes and other surveillance footage. And let us assume that they are successful in finding the tape and specific footage they are looking for, in many cases the quality of the footage will be very grainy and unclear to the extent that it might not be eligible or qualified to be used as evidence under a court of law. Most police departments and other law enforcement stations, have a high turnover ratio. Most inmates typically stay in the department about two weeks however the longest stay for an inmate was close to 30 days. Unfortunately, due to this high the turnover rate, the law enforcement officials are frequently blamed of abuse or of choosing the wrong time to discharge the wrong convict. Thankfully, the arrival of digital video technology has immensely assisted the police department in regards to this issue. Switching to the digital security technology has allowed the police officers to manage their time and other resources more properly. Rather than having to spend hours upon hours searching for a VHS tape, they are capable of immediately pulling it up from a computer screen, which spares them more time to carry out other daily requirements of their work. A year has officially passed since the initial installment of this digital security surveillance system. The system has witnessed the occurrence of many incidents in that time period. Some of them were good; many were neutral, while others were bad. However, all of them proved the effectiveness and superiority of this powerful security tool. Most police departments are a professional enough to acknowledge that they do commit errors from time to time, and they but we attend to these unpleasant occurrences immediately and stoutly. When they do commit a mistake they are usually the first to acknowledge it. Their newly acquired surveillance and video system has allowed them to physically prove that they do not run away from their gaffes and natural slipups and that they take an active and brave approach to realize them, fix them, and create some preventative measure to prevent their occurrence in the future. Every police officer and other staff in the facility are happy to realize that not only is his safety and protection guaranteed but the safety of the felons and evil doers as well, not to mention the other valuable features in relation to record keeping and illegal conduct that are instantly prevented by the simple installation of this system. They sought the best that they could possible manage to pay for, to guarantee that they were doing their ultimate best in protecting their workers as well as the property surrounding them and with the terrific footage quality of this digital set of security cameras they got exactly what they wished for and now their headaches a little less painful. Although many police departments are seeing still depending on their outdated analog security cameras to protect them, many others are realizing the importance of staying up to date with the rapidly advancing technology. The constantly improving features are efficiently improving the security of concerned individuals and simplifying their daily tasks to a level that can not be ignored. |
